Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum Review
I love Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum ($35) and highly recommend it.
I began testing the product after returning from a vacation at the family cabin. The water from the new well there is high in iron. After washing in it for a couple weeks, my face was dry, rough and ruddy with rash-like pimples across my forehead-- even though I'd stayed out of the sun, eaten well and used high-quality products.
The vacation left me rested and relaxed, but my skin needed help returning to civilization. Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum promised "a safe and natural way to exfoliate and brighten the skin while reducing fine lines and discoloration." And it delivered.
As directed, I applied the serum each night before bed and followed with a moisturizer. Within a week, my complexion was brighter and smoother. By the second week, I noticed that my morning antioxidant serum and other skincare products were absorbing more quickly. After three weeks, my forehead lines were softer and almost unnoticeable. Minor discoloration on the sides of my cheeks and around my mouth has also lightened.
Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum comes in a colorfully designed white box. The product is contained in a small brown glass jar and is dispensed with a dropper. The serum is an amber-colored liquid with a fermented fruit scent that dissipates quickly.
A little serum goes a long way. A half-dropper full is enough to cover my face and neck. If I also apply the product to my décolleté, I may use a full dropper. The instructions recommend following the serum 10 minutes later with a moisturizing cream before turning in for the night.
Unlike manual exfoliants and low-quality chemical exfoliants, this product did not irritate my skin in the least. But then, Mad Hippie's serum is far more than just an exfoliant. Other reviews have called it an "all-rounder" that provides a variety of protect and repair benefits to the skin. While I believe the good far outweighs the bad in this product, purists may be put off by the inclusion of phenoxyethanol. a preservative, and potassium hydroxide. a pH balancer that can be an irritant for some people.
The Mad Hippie line is far less expensive than similar products, so it's a great bang for the buck. I am thrilled to add the Exfoliating Serum to my skincare routine, and am now eager to try other Mad Hippie products.
My Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum will now accompany me to the family cabin in the future. That way, I'll look as rested as I feel at the end of vacation.
